PMBC's stand on illegal trail building

The Perth Mountain Bike Club strongly discourage anyone from building illegal trails in the Perth Hills and beautiful bush.

We all know there are some fanstastic, well built and sustainable trails that are well used on a daily basis. However, the vast majority of these trails have been built illegally and there is a genuine chance that some may be shut down in the future.

If you have the energy, enthusiasm, time and skill to build these awesome trails, why not get them approved before they are actually built. This way we can all enjoy them for years to come, and they won't be shut down.

WAMBA are currently putting a document together to explain the process of getting approval before building the trails. I will put the link here as soon as I have it.

In the mean time, you could give John Carney (WAMBA President) a call at Wembly Cycles on 9387 3708 and he will point you in the right direction.

Car Park Closed at the start of the Blue Tag Trail

The car park at the start of the Blue Tag Trail (on Mundaring Weir road, near farrell grove) has been closed and rehabilitated by DEC. It has been closed because too many 4WD's are going into this area. This is a high risk disease area for Dieback and they don't want it spreading.

Alternative parking can found at the Dell, at Farrell Grove or at the little GunGin car park on Weir road itself. Please do not park in the bush or on any native area's.

Please respect DEC's decission to close this car park and entry into the bush.

DEC do a lot for mountain biking and have some great people working for them who are genuinely trying to help us enjoy the bush and our riding. DEC also respect that the Blue Tag is possibly one of the best built and sustainable trails in the area. They have been kind enough to turn a blind eye to this trail for a long time now, but it is still an illegal trail in a dieback area.

Further news and information will be posted as it comes to hand.

The life members of PMBC are an important part of the clubs history and they have earned this right for good reason.

Unfortunately, it appears there is no official record of who is a life member and we would like to make one.

If you are a life member of PMBC or know of some one who is (that may not look at the web site) please contact me at

ttmtb@iinet.net.au

Thanks, Tony
