Wembley Cycles State Single Speed Champs

To celebrate 20 years of the Perth Mountain Bike Club we are holding three events all on the same day at the Goat Farm! (stupidest idea I ever had from an organising point of view!!)

RETRO CROSS COUNTRY
To kick off the day we will have a retro Cross Country race at 900. There are three classes, Fully Rigid, Front Suspension and Dual Suspension. Cost for the race is only $15 and it should be a whole lot of fun. There will be prizes in each category as well as for the best bikes and outfits. The bikes need to be from before 1999!

RETRO DOWNHILL
At about 1030 we will then move to the Downhill where it will be the same three categories and I expect to see most of the same people competing on the same bikes (just like the old days). A full face helmet will be required for the downhill. The downhill is also $15 and it will be a one run event. The course will be heavily modified and is likely to be fairly old school (that means include some fast fireroad). Once again the bikes need to be older that 1999.

SINGLE SPEED XC STATE CHAMPS
Then we move on to the pinciple event the Wembley Cycles Single Speed State Championships. In order to keep more than one person in the running for this prize it will be a handicap race run over the same course as the morning xc retro race. There are four categories: open men, open women, masters men (40+) and juniors. Cost for this event is also $15.

The single speed state champs will start at 12pm.

If you aren't going to race come along and be part of the day. We will have a bbq on and enjoy a drink or two while watching the racing. It is also a great opportunity to come along and be part of a more social racing event with a little less of the normal serious racing going on.

The track for the Cross Country events is partly marked and will be finalised on Friday morning. It is a fairly standard Goatfarm xc course with at least one tough pinch of a climb to test the singple speed gear ratios.
